AB Carlsson & Möller has long experience of applications in the food and biotechnology areas. New EU rules which come into force 1st January 2016 will require improved traceability and EU certified materials. Carlsson & Möller already keep EU-approved materials in stock that meet the EG1935/2004EC requirements for full traceability.

Engineering plastic can withstand strong alkaline chemicals, corrosive acids, steam and hot water (for example disinfection and autoclaving). This makes the plastic very suitable for applications with extremely high hygiene standards. Furthermore our plastic material Ertacetal C, has a surface free from pores, and microscopic cracks. This reduces the risk of dirt and bacteria being trapped in the material, which makes cleaning easier.

The benefits of engineering plastic in the food industry

  • Corrosion-free
  • Smooth, pore-free surface – easy to clean
  • Resistant to both high and low temperatures (–200°C to +260°C)
  • Withstands UV exposure, steam, strong chemicals and cleaning agents
  • High form stability, mechanical strength and wear resistance
  • Low friction

Our materials meet international standards

Materials in contact with food or used in pharmaceutical and biotechnology areas must be classified and approved according to specific rules. These include framework EG1935/2004EC and Directive 10/2011EC *, Germany BfR, FDA Code of Federal Regulations (21 CFR), ISO 10993, USP Class VI, European Pharma, EMEA and 3A-Dairy.

For both end-customers and machine suppliers, it is vital that the constituent materials are classified and approved according to the requirements. This is especially important when the machines and products are exported to international markets.

Everything Carlsson & Möller delivers, down to the smallest detail, is classified and can be supplied with certificates of origin to EN 10204.

This gives full traceable at all stages and complete safety!

Magnetically detectable engineering plastics

Our magnetically detectable (MD) engineering plastics safeguard the quality of the production process and end products because any excess particles in the machinery can be captured magnetically.

MD engineering plastics are suitable for equipment in bakeries, mills, dairies, slaughterhouses and other food processes.

MD plastics meet EG1935/2004/EC.
