Polycarbonate (PC) is a colorless, clear plastic and has unlimited coloring possibilities. It is often used in impellers, safety glasses, contact lenses and safety helmets, to name a few examples. PC is well suited for injection molding, blow molding and extrusion. It can be foiled, embossed, welded, glued and machined with ease. The thermoplastic polycarbonate has a transmission capacity of 85 – 91%.
Polycarbonate (PC) offers very high impact strength and high modulus of elasticity. The material has a heat deflection temperature of 145°C (290°F) at 264 psi, absorbs very little moisture and resists acidic solutions. These properties, in addition to good electrical properties, make Polycarbonate (PC) an excellent choice for electrical/electronic applications. Its strength, impact resistance and transparency also make it an ideal material for certain transparent structural applications such as sight glass and windows.
Polycarbonate (PC) is stress relieving which makes it ideal for close tolerance machined parts.
