Polyethersulfone (PES) belongs to the group of sulfones and is a thermoplastic that is amorphous.

Like other sulfone plastics, PES is suitable at elevated temperatures. The chemical resistance is generally very good and the material’s good hydrolytic properties are outstanding. Like all amorphous materials, they are basically transparent, and so also for PES, which has a yellow-brown, transparent color. Details in PES can be made with high tolerance requirements.

PES can be machined from plates and bars with limited availability in various dimensions.

PES allows higher mechanical strength combined with high stiffness. In addition, polyether sulfones offer good chemical compatibility and resistance to hydrolysis. As PES is an amorphous plastic, it is transparent in a yellow-brown tone. Polyethersulfone can be advantageously used when dimensional stability and tight tolerances are required.
