Polysulfone (PSU), trade name Sultron® is an amber semi-transparent, heat resistant, high performance engineering thermoplastic. It offers excellent mechanical, electrical and improved chemical resistance properties compared to polycarbonate. The properties of the polysulfone remain relatively consistent over a wide temperature range, from -100°C (-150°F) to 100°C (300°F).

Polysulfone (PSU) is hydrolysis resistant for continuous use in hot water and steam at temperatures up to 300°F. Its flame rating is UL 94-V-0 at 1/4″ thickness (6.35 mm) and UL 94-V-2 at 1/8″ thickness (3.175 mm).

Polysulfone (PSU) offers high chemical resistance to acid and salt solutions, and good resistance to detergents, hot water and steam. In addition, polysulfone has excellent radiation stability and offers low levels of ionic impurities. Polysulfone (PSU) often replaces polycarbonate (PC) when higher temperatures, improved chemical resistance or autoclavability are required. It is widely used for analytical instrumentation, medical equipment and semiconductor process equipment components.

Food grade Polysulfone (PSU) and customized colors can be special ordered. Food grade only PSU is FDA, NSF, 3A-Dairy, USP Class VI Compliant and meets the requirements of NSF/ANSI Standard 61.
